About the memorial: Longitudinal engraved slate tablets, inscribed in white lettering. (Most of those named on this memorial were originally commemorated on the memorials that were erected after the World Wars by the relevant constituent Force for which they had worked, each of which has or will have a separate entry on War Memorials Online- Oxford City Police, Reading Borough Police, Berkshire Constabulary, Buckinghamshire Constabulary, High Wycombe Borough Police and Oxfordshire Constabulary. However, some names were included as the result of subsequent research conducted by members of Thames Valley Police. The memorial is displayed on the same wall as a separate slate tablet that records the names of Thames Valley Police officers who have died on Police duty). There are 47 names for each war. The memorial is in the reception area. The reports for the original memorials are- Berkshire Constabulary-70743 and 287690, Buckinghamshire Constabulary-271415 for WW1, no previous WW2 memorial known about; High Wycombe Borough Police- no known original memorial for the single WW1 casualty and no WW2 casualties; Oxford City Police WW1-92373 and 92374, Oxford City Police WW2-92732, 92374 and 285177, Oxfordshire Constabulary WW1-287347 and 289010, Oxfordshire Constabulary WW2-286978 and 288959, Reading Borough Police-WW1- 289034 Reading Borough Police-WW2- 289035

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
