About the memorial: The war memorial is located close to the Cricket Club pavilion outside Gumley Village. It consists of a stone infilled wheel cross on a tapering rectangular column with sword on front face, carved wreath above square base bearing three slate tablets, all on two stepped base. A small garden, mainly grass, surrounds the memorial, the whole area is enclosed by a wooden picket fence.Unveiled Saturday 20 June 1920 by Colonel RE Martin.
