About the memorial: A grey granite monument comprising a pillar on a base and surmounted by a capstone and a cross. The 6 o'clock face of the pillar bears the incised inscription and WW1 names in upright capital Gothic and block lettering coloured black. The battered base has a bevelled top and bears the WW1 quotation and the WW2 addition incised in capital block lettering coloured black. The pillar is surmounted by a moulded capstone and a small plain Latin cross. The whole rests on a plain limestone plinth. (c IWM Archive)
