About the memorial: A stone built cairn with a engraved slate on its front with dedication and names etched in white. Dedicatory polished granite tablet set into the front face, all standing on a concrete base. An additional tablet with gaelic inscription is set into a side face. The memorial has inscriptions of 7 or 8 names for WW1 and 5 or 6 names for WW2. This War Memorial, erected in 1987 is one of the newest of all those in Skye and was erected by the Local Community Council in the Struan area, as a memorial to the local men who had died as a result of WW1 and WW2. When some years later, the memorial was renovated, a service of rededication was held where the oldest resident in the community, Mrs Flora Anne Beaton, carried out the unveiling. Mrs Beaton knew the families of all those commemorated on the memorial and personally knew many of the casualties. The Portree High School Pipe Band played 'The Battle of the Somme” at this rededication service.'
