About the memorial: Within the church, on the right hand (south) wall within the chancel.A framed and glazed composite memorial to Plt. Off. Noel George Cromie, Royal New Zealand Air Force, who was serving as a staff pilot at No. 11 Operational Training Unit, when his Miles Martinet aircraft crashed on 19 June, 1943. After his body was recovered it was buried in St. Mary's Churchyard at Cranworth, having been engaged to marry Miss Mary Taylor, of Cranworth.
