About the memorial: A community hall with a dedicatory metal plaque. This memorial is unusual in that it is a Memorial Hall and is the only one of its kind in Skye and Lochalsh. It is dedicated to the Men from the Skeabost District, who fell in the conflicts of 1939 to 1946 and in later in Palestine . The plaque inside the hall has inscriptions of 14 names for WW2 and 1 for the conflict in Palestine. The building of the memorial hall whilst supplemented by local collections, was a gift from Duncan MacLeod of Skeabost, to the people of the area. It was felt that a Community Hall would be more appropriate than any other form of Memorial. The Foundation stone was laid 29th August 1952 by Mrs Joan Wigram. Within the Hall there is a Plaque to the 15 Men who laid down their lives during these conflicts. Until fairly recently, the hall was still used for the benefit of the people of Skeabost and District.
