About the memorial: Located in De Rhodes memorial garden, close to the school. Two separate stones for WWI and WW2. The garden was created as a war memorial in 1951, entered through an archway built as a memorial to a member of the De Rhodes family in 1869. WW1 - A grey granite tablet on a sandstone backboard. The upright oblong tablet has the names of the fallen in two columns and the name of Corporal Fred Greaves VC (who survived the war) at the foot. The incised inscription and names are in upright Roman lettering coloured gold, the names in capitals and the text in sentence case. WW2 - A grey granite tablet reclining on a concrete backboard. The upright format oblong tablet has the incised inscription in upright lettering coloured gold, the names in Roman capitals and the text in sentence case Gothic style. The 1992 photograph on this report shows the original tablet, which was replaced at an unknown date, but as seen in the 2013 photograph on this report.
