About the memorial: The parish church is now redundant and has become a private house but the kirkyard is accessible on a side road to the south of the B9031 just beyond the neighbouring Free Presbyterian Church. (Do not mix them up!) Gamrie Parish Church was built in the 1820s to replace the old church of St John (at Gardenstown), which was now ruinous. It is located at the north-east corner of a large, rectangular graveyard, at the top of a south-facing slope. The church and its grounds are surrounded by open countryside, with large arable and grass fields. The church is no longer in ecclesiastical use and was sold. It has since been converted into a private house and a new wall and gate have been built around it to provide some privacy and private ground, outwith the graveyard. It is On a minor road between the A98 and B9031, South of Gardenstown.
