Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.
If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

SIR FRANCIS D'OYLY, K.C.B./ OF THE FIRST REGIMENT OF FOOT-GUARDS./ HE ENTERED THE MILITARY PROFESSION AT AN EARLY AGE,/ AND HAVING SERVED IN THE EXPEDITION/ AGAINST HOLLAND, IN THE YEAR 1799,/ AND AGAIN IN 1809, IN THE ATTACK/ OF THE BRITISH FORCES UPON WALCHEREN;/ HE WAS AFTERWARDS ACTIVELY EMPLOYED AS FIELD-OFFICER,/ DURING THE GREATER PORTION OF THE CAMPAIGNS IN SPAIN,/ UNDER THE COMMAND OF/ FIELD MARSHAL THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON,/ AND BORE A SHARE IN THE VICTORY OF SALAMANCA, OF VITTORIA,/ OF THE PYRENNES, OF THE NIVELLE, AND OF ORTHES./ IN THE GREAT BATTLE OF WATERLOO, JUNE 18TH 1815,/ HE COMMANDED A BATTALION OF THE GUARDS,/ AND WAS KILLED AT THE CLOSE OF THAT DECISIVE ACTION, AT THE MOMENT WHEN HIS MEN WERE ADVANCING/ AGAINST THE FRENCH LINE,/ AND WHEN THE VICTORY WAS NO LONGER DOUBTFUL./ HE WAS THE 3D SON OF MATTHIAS AND MARY D'OYLY;/ AND DIED IN THE 39TH YEAR OF HIS AGE./ A TABLET INSCRIBED TO HIS MEMORY, AS WELL AS TO THE MEMORY/ OF OTHER BRITISH OFFICERS,/ IS PLACED IN THE CHURCH AT WATERLOO./ IN THE SAME VAULT WITH THE REVD. M.D'OYLY IS INTERRED/ MARY, HIS WIDOW, WHO DIED AUGUST 13TH 1827 AGED 76./ THEIR SECOND SON SIR JOHN D'OYLY BART./ DIED AT KANDY IN CEYLON,/ MAY 25TH 1824 AGED 49.
