About the memorial: The Auchindoir / Lumsden war memorial is very similar to that of Towie and I understand both monuments were the work of Morren & Co., Aberdeen. The war memorial is a grey granite cross with wheel-head and a tapering shaft, and with a sheathed sword carved in relief on the face of the cross-head. The cross is set on a tall pedestal which in turn rests on two steps. The commemoration and names of the dead are set in lead lettering on the faces of the pedestal. Parish name was originally Auchindor but now incorporated into Upper Donside Parish.
