About the memorial: Comberton church organ was built by Mr Edwin Tyrell of St Ives and purchased in 1919 as a war memorial. The cost of about £150 was covered by donations from residents of the village and a donation of 2 guineas from Jesus College, patrons of the church.A brass plate attached to the wall near the organ was given by Mr Mann of Cambridge, whose father had once been a churchwarden at Comberton. The inscription on the plate reads: This organ was placed in the church as a thanksgiving for victory in the Great War 1914-1919 and in memory of the fallen. Tom Baker, Fred Butler, Alfred Day, Walter Day, Bert Darran, John Day, Arthur Harper, Victor Harper, William Humphreys, William Mallows, Sidney Williamson, Sidney Keep. The organ was dedicated at a service on 1st August 1919, at which the preacher was Canon Baldwin, Vicar of Harston.
