About the memorial: Just inside the main entrance of the Imperial Building, across the road from the sea terminal. The memorial window and an explanatory stone tablet were sponsored by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co. Ltd. and were originally situated in St Barnabas' Church, Douglas until November 1969, when the tablet was relocated to the Steam Packet Headquarters, due to St Barnabas' Church being demolished. Following the re-siting of the tablet, a varnished wooden plaque measuring 2.75' x 31.5' was situated immediately below the window. This is now faded and hard to read. Note that the memorial now consists just the original plaque and the later wooden addition, the window seemingly to have been demolished along with the church.
