About the memorial: Memorial plaque to staff killed in the First World War. It is enclosed in a wooden frame with glass front. Originally, in the old station, it was at the Parcels Office/Left Luggage Office (which no longer exists, after the station was rebuilt in 2015 to 2016). It is now in the Blue Zone adjacent to the entrance to Platform 5. The 2 W Lawrence's are identified by adding their station of employment-1 was from Monument Lane station, the other from Curzon Street. There are 129 names. They are in alphabetical order. The plaque has a foliate border in relief with a separate foliate design in the corners. At top centre there is an enamelled image of Britannia and a lion with a train in the background.
