About the memorial: The Byers Green War memorial is a freestanding stone cross. The names for men who died in the First World War are on the sides of the memorial, and for those who died in the Second World War on the rear of the memorial. The memorial has a dedication on its front face which is interesting as it gives no date for the end of the First World War. Possibly the reason for this is that the memorial was commissioned before the official ending of the war as declared by Act of Parliament (August 1921).
