About the memorial: Raised lettering on rectangular panel of main church door beneath 2 crests. Within the porch.The composer George Sainton Kaye Butterworth was known for his very English orchestral compositions as well as his arrangements of Morris dance tunes. He was killed by a sniper's bullet in 1916, at the battle of the Somme.
