About the memorial: Plaque dedicated to those from Royal Fusiliers who lost their lives in the Afghan Campaign 1879-1880. In the Nave, north aisle, a marble wall panel carved in high relief: the upper section with a standing central figure of King David under a palm tree pouring water out of a vessel, surrounded by a group of soldiers and onlookers. One kneeling figure on David's right holds a vessel, the other on his left also kneels. Below this is a narrow band with the inscription; IS NOT THIS THE BLOOD OF THE MEN THAT WENT IN JEOPARDY OF THEIR LIVES. II. SAM.XXIII.17 The lower section depicts the central emblem of the Royal Fusiliers together with other regimental accoutrements ( sword, colours, bearskin and a rifle) Below this is a brass wall plaque inscribed (with mastic infill in red and black lettering) with the memorial inscription at the top, a roll of names in the centre and a Biblical quotation below. The inscriptions are surrounded by a leaf-decorated border with foliage volutes at the inner corners. The list of names is inscribed on a representation of a scroll fixed to a spear.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
