About the memorial: THREE-STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY A CENOTAPH SET WITHIN RAISED ORNAMENTAL GARDEN WITH STONE WALLS AT THE PERIMETER. WHOLE IS SURMOUNTED BY A SARCOHAGUS WITH DRAPED FLAG. NAMES ON THE SIDES OF THE PLINTH BELOW THE CORNICE AND ABOVE THE BAND IS AN ANCHOR CARVED WITHIN A WREATH AND ENCLOSED BY SWAG

6 O'CLOCK FACE: COUNTY BOROUGH OF WALSALL/ TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVE AND GRATITUDE TO/ THE MEN OF THE BOROUGH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WORLD WAR 1914-1918/ THIS CENOTAPH HAS BEEN ERECTED/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE/ 1ST OCTOBER 1921 FACE FACING THE BRIDGE: THEY WERE NUMBERED AMONGST THOSE WHO, AT THE/ CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY, LEFT ALL THAT WAS DEAR TO/ THEM ENDURED HARNESS, FACED DANGER, AND FINALLY/ PASSED OUT OF THE SIGHT OF MEN BY THE PATH OF DUTY AND/ SELF-SACRIFICE, GIVING UP THEIR OWN LIVES THAT OTHERS/ MIGHT LIVE IN FREEDOM./ LET THOSE THAT COME AFTER SEE TO IT THAT THEIR NAMES/ BE NOT FORGOTTTEN
