Captain William Harold Coltman VC, DCM, MM. A distinguished citizen of Burton upon Trent and of Staffordshire, who as a Lance Corporal in the 1st/6th Battalion, the North Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's) was awarded the Victoria Cross,The Distinguished Conduct Medal and bar, and the Military Medal and bar, and was also mentioned in despatches, for his work as an unarmed stretcher bearer in France during the 1914 - 1918 war. Born 17.11.1891 Died 29.6.1974
