About the memorial: This memorial is of a tall stone tower surmounted by a smaller section at the top and a flagpole. It has a door at the base of the tower with a dedicatory stone tablet above. The tower is enclosed by wrought iron railings. This memorial to Major-General Sir Hector Archibald Macdonald KCB DSO ADC was erected by friends of his youth. It is sited near where he was born and brought up on a croft in Mulbuie near Rootfield. There is another memorial to him within Mitchell Hill cemetery in Dingwall.
