About the memorial: Wooden cross with engraved brass plaque and stamped aluminium identity strip retrieved from Somme battlefield by father of Capt Woollett after the end of the conflict.There is also a marble plaque in memory of Capt. Woollett mounted on the wall above the cross.The plaque has incised painted lettering and features a regimental badge in relief and a photographic image of Capt. Woollett with a gold leaf border.

Brass plaque: Original cross from Grass Lane Cemty, Gueudcourt France. Capt.W.C.Woollett K.O.Y.L.I. Marble plaque: '' Mors Janua Vitae'' To the Glory of God and in everlasting memory of William Charles Woollett Capt.11th.Battn.Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry killed in action in France on the Somme September 16th. 1916 in his 26th. year. Sacrificed at the altar of liberty he passed onto life everlasting.
