About the memorial: US Armed Forces: 3 free standing stones . Medal of honor memorial. Shells of three fighter planes on concrete pedestals in front of brick wall. Wall bears plaques with inscriptions. Replica Spitfire installed in 1999 as Battle of Britain Memorial. F-4, F-111 and F-15 aircraft shells mounted in front of wall. Two flags on wall; Stars and Stripes and flag of POW MIA, Association. On plaque; Globe in centre, barbed wire around edge, Badge of Liberty Association at bottom right. "The 48th Fighter Wing is part of the United States Air Force's Third Air Force, assigned to Headquarters Air Command Europe and United States Air Forces in Europe. It is based at RAF Lakenheath, England. The 48 FW is the only F-15 wing based in Europe and consists of both F-15C/D Eagle and F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft." Wikipedia

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
