Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.
If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
Please be aware that a summary of your enquiry, without your contact details, will appear on this page once submitted. This ensures others are aware that an enquiry has been made and can read the response to avoid duplicate enquiries. Left Hand Page- ROLL OF/HONOUR/THESE CIVILIANS LOST THEIR LIVES AS A RESULT OF/ENEMY ACTION IN BIRMINGHAM DURING WORLD WAR 2/Name upon name is now displayed/This now their finest accolade/Though long we've shed our bitter tears/That war denied their span of years/In hearts while safe we memories keep/They never died-they merely sleep/Life's tree stands tall for all to see/Our witness, our Humanity//This Roll was presented to Birmingham Air Raid Remembrance/Association by A G Cave, former General Works Manager at BSA/Works Small Heath for display in St Martin's Church Bull Ring 2007. Sign about the Calligrapher- About the calligrapher/Sandra Sandilands made these works and wrote out/the Roll of Honour in the display case beneath the/picture of blitz conditions. She teaches calligraphy/for Birmingham Adult Education Service, and at/The Pen Room, museum of pens and writing equipment/in Frederick Street, Jewellery Quarter. She is the wife/of the Beadle at St Paul's Church, St Paul's Square, and former secretary to Mr A G Cave, General Works/Manager at BSA Motor Cycles, Armoury Road, Small Heath, who commissioned the Roll.
