About the memorial: Standing in the churchyard to the north of St. Martin's Church.Addition to the gravestone of Sarah Ann Bacon, also commemorating three of her sons and one son-in-law who were killed in action in WW1: Sidney Bacon, killed in action on 19 December, 1914, aged 27; Ralph Hornigold Bacon, killed in action on 21 March, 1918, aged 26; Percy William Bacon, killed in action also on 21 March, 1918, aged 19; and Bert Bell, died of wounds on 22 July, 1918, aged 24. Sidney Bacon, 7310, Lance Corporal, 1st Bn, Norfolk Regiment.  Killed in action on 19 December, 1914.  Commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.Ralph Hornigold Bacon, 40288, 9th Bn, Norfolk Regiment.  Killed in action on 21 March, 1918.  Commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.  Husband of Ivy Emma Harper (formerly Bacon), of Park Cottage, Gayton, Norfolk.
Percy William Bacon, A/204082, Rifleman, 13th Bn, King's Royal Rifle Corps.  Killed in action on 21 March, 1918.  Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
These the sons wof William and Sarah Ann Bacon, of Fincham.
Bert Bell, 40193, Private, 7th Bn, Norfolk Regiment.  Died of wounds on 22 July, 1917.  Buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, Pas de Calais, France.  Husband of Lily Mary Bell, of Fincham.  Son-in-law of William and Sarah Ann Bacon.
A sad coincidence that two of the brothers should be killed on the same, but in different regiments and in different countries.
All four men are also commemorated on the main war memorial on the other side of the church.
