About the memorial: The memorial is mounted on the interior wall of the former church, built by the Grenfell family of Swansea Copperworks fame. Listed are 67 names of men in the Parish strongly connected to the church - several were sidemen and chorister - who lost their lives in the WWI conflict. Importantly, it includes Francis Grenfell, who was awarded the VC. The future of this memorial is in serious doubt. Despite concerted efforts by the community to buy the church after closure, partly to protect the memorial, all bids were rejected. The building is now on the hands of a developer, who has not included protection for the memorial in his plans. The community have asked if they could have access to it, in order to remove and relocate, but it is doubtful, given the immensity and weight, that it can be removed. As yet, that request has not been granted The second option, while far from ideal, is to fund raise to provide a replacement. Most of the names remain clear and crisp, but some are showing signs of wear. The structure is part slate, part stone.
