THE GREAT WAR / FROM MAY 1915 TO AUGUST 1919 THIS INSTITUTION / WAS OCCUPIED AS A MILITARY HOSPITAL / 32, 852 SICK AND WOUNDED MEN FROM H.M. FORCES / HOME AND OVERSEAS WERE TREATED. / OF THE MENTAL HOSPITAL STAFF / 125 MEN JOINED THE FORCES, AND THE MEN WHOSE / NAMES ARE SET OUT BELOW GAVE LIFE / ITSELF IN THEIR COUNTRY'S SERVICE. /(Names) / 'TO FIGHT IN A JUST CAUSE AND FOR OUR COUNTRY'S GLORY, / IS THE BEST OFFICE OF THE BEST MEN.'
