About the memorial: Tall circular pillar set on square plinth and standing on 4 stepped base mounted on stoned built, rimmed platform on village green.The memorial originally had a cross on top but which was knocked off by boys playing football in the 1930's and not replaced. Listed Grade II, list entry number 1459045. The memorial was dedicated by the Bishop of Oxford on Saturday 6th November 1920. It was designed by Mr F. E, Howard and installed by Messrs. Axtell of Oxford at a cost of £158 and is made of Box Stone. A picture of the memorial with the cross has now been located and this will be replaced and the memorial rededicated in November 2020 to mark the centenary of the original dedication.
