IN THIS HALL ON 31ST AUGUST 1914/THE FIRST VOLUNTEERS OF THE/ LIVERPOOL PALS 17TH TO 20TH BATTALIONS OF/ THE KINGS (LIVERPOOL REGIMENT)/ ANSWERED LORD DERBY'S CALL/ TO SERVE IN THE GREAT WAR/ THESE WERE THE FIRST OF THE MANY/ PALS BATTALIONS TO BE RAISED/ THROUHOUT THE COUNTRY./ THIS PLAQUE WAS ERECTED BY/ THE MERSEYSIDE BRANCH OF THE/ WESTERN FRONT ASSOCIATION ON/ 31ST AUGUST 1994.
