About the memorial: Elaborate plinth with urn supported by cascading roof and multi tiered base showing dedication on front face and names on side faces. Stands in area bounded by iron railing fence. The Historic England entry reports the urn as missing, but online photos and Google street view suggest that it has been replaced/restored. The HE entry also gives the address as Clayton Street, which adjoins Station Street but has been largely built over by the Palmer Community Hospital.
