About the memorial: Seven sculpted figures, standing shoulder to shoulder. The last figure to the right incorporates a swirl at base within the stonework which combines the figures. Rests on a stone base with dedicatory brass plaque at centre. Adjacent stone tablet with dedicatory inscription

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Plaque: This sculpture, 'Shoulder to Shoulder'/ by Stephen Hitchin, has been produced as part/ of the National Lottery Veterans Re-united/ Home Front Recall Project 2005./ The Sculpture was unveiled by the/ Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Christine Meaden/ on/ 13th November 2005 Tablet: Shoulder to Shoulder/ by Stephen Hitchin/ Portland stone, 2005/ This sculpture 'Shoulder to shoulder' by/ Stephen Hitchen was commissioned as part of/ the National Lottery Vererans Re-united/ Home Front Recall Project, 2005/ It was made to mark the occasion of the 60th/ anniversary of the close of World War Two/ and to celebrate the work, achievements and/ sometimes lives, of those who served within/ the UK, in all capacities, during the war./ It was unveiled in Wirral Museum by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Christine Meaden, on 13th November 2005.
