About the memorial: Marble tablet 1.5m high by 0.75m wide with incised letters on central plaque. Rifle and helmet sculpted on pediment. One small rose on either side of lettering at top. Central plaque with Staffordshire Knot at top has a pillar at either side of lettering.,

In affectionate memory of Corporal H St G Walker of this parish who died of enteric fever at De aar South Africa Nov 19th 1900, aged 24 years. Whilst serving with the Volunteer Company 1st South Staffordshire Regiment during the Boer Campaign/. Faithful unto death/This tablet was erected by personal friends as a token of love and esteem
