About the memorial: The memorial was built in late 1919 and the unveiling and dedication by the Lord Bishop of the Diocese (Henry Hodgson) was reported in the East Anglian Daily Times on 5 December 1919. The design chosen was a Celtic cross which was placed in the Burial Ground opposite the church of St Andrew. No record has been found as to how money was raised for the project and how the decisions were made on such matters as design, wording used and location.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
