About the memorial: This stone tablet is on the south wall of the nave. It is a less lavish work than its First World War counterpart (see separate entry), but is of interest for two reasons. Most war memorials reflect the many fewer fatalities of the second conflict in contrast to the first. Here the 32 names are an indication of how much suburban development had expanded the population of Wollaton in the two decades between the wars following the sale of the Wollaton estate in 1925. The second point of interest is that there was a delay in erecting this memorial. It was put up only in 1988 when intensive research by members of the Royal British Legion, co-ordinated by Gerald Ball, produced an appropriate tablet some forty years after most other places.
