Herman Ethé (1844 – 1917) Yn y lle hwn ymgasglodd torf niferus o drigolion Aberystwyth ynHydref 1914 I alltudio’r Athro Herman Ethé o’r dref oherwydd ei genedligrwydd Almaenig. Gadawodd Ethé drannoeth, ac ni ddychwelodd i’w gartref yn Ffordd Caradog nac i’w swydd ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth. Bu farw ym Mryste ym 1917. Gosodir y gofeb hon gan Gyngor Tref Aberystwyth yn y gobaith na phrofa neb erledigaeth debyg yn ein tref fyth eto A large mob of Aberystwyth inhabitants gathered here in October 1914 to drive Professor Hermann Ethé from the town because of his German nationality. Ethé left the following day, never to return to his Home in Caradog Road or to his work at Aberystwyth University.
