About the memorial: War memorial. c.1918 by Reginald Blomfield. Limestone ashlar. 3 octagonal steps inscribed with: "R.I.P. To the Glory of God and in Memory of the sons of the parish who fell in the Great War. 1914-1918. Their names are recorded in the Church." Octagonal plinth with moulded base and octagonal shaft with acanthus leaf decoration around the base. Moulded cap and frieze of quatrefoils and battlements. Gabled crucifixion with military saint on east side. c Historic England listing entry Memorial - Each of the 8 sides of the base level is 1.12m in length, 0.15m in height. Each part of the 8 above is 0.89m by 0.2m high, each part of the final stepped layer is 0.56m long by 0.2m high. Each of the 8 sections of the 4th level (tall base) is 0.3m wide and 0.48m high. Each section of the 8 sided stone column is 0.14m by 2.9m high. The castellated arrangement is too high to be measured, an approximation of its height would be about 0.3m. Likewise the cross on top of the memorial is not measured, an approximate height would be 1.0m. Plaque - The total height of the plaque, includes the semicircle, is 0.79m while the height with the semicircle subtracted is 0.72m. The width is 0.41m, while the slim gold frame is 0.01m wide and the protruding gold shelf at the top of the plaque is 0.03m deep.
