About the memorial: The memorial has been constructed by apprentices of Tarmac, successors to Buxton Lime Firms Ltd, to commemorate those employees who lost their lives in the Battle of the Somme. The inscription and names are engraves on brass discs forming the centre if the poppy-like flowers.
