About the memorial: RAF Shobdon was No.5 Glider Training School. A sandstone monolith approx. 2.13 m high x .9m wide x .45m deep. set into a round plinth with stone facing and grey paving. Plaque on South face.The plaque is black polished granite .60m x .60m with silver lettering. The plaque contains the names of 19 people who died at RAF Shobdon between 1942 - 1945.The memorial was built by the Herefordshire Aero Club members and unveiled on the 11th September 2016. The site was landscaped with box hedging in January 2017.

RAF Shobdon 1942 - 1945. Dedicated to the servicemen and women and civilian support staff who served at RAF Shobdon 1942-1945. During that time 1345 glider pilots,291 gliding instructors and 218 tug pilots were trained at Shobdon. Their courage and resolution were an example to all. Also to those who gave their lives whilst serving here.
