About the memorial: Five stepped octagonal base surmounted by plinth, shaft, open lantern and cross. Inscription on metal plaques attached to the sides of the plinth and lower part of the shaft carved tracery design at the top of the shaft and on the cross. Wreath carved on the front of the memorial and on four sides of the plinth are depicted carvings of a soldier, sailor, airman and nurse.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

PLAQUE ONE: IN ETERNAL REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF SOLIHULL WHO WENT FORTH AT THE CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY TO FIGHT IN THE GREAT WAR, MANFULLY THEY FACED HARDSHIP, DANGER, DEATH ITSELF IN THE CAUSE OF LIBERTY. THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO RETURNED NOT AGAIN ARE HERE INSCRIBED. THEIR BODIES ARE BURIED IN PEACE AND THEIR NAME LIVETH UNTO GENEREATION AND GENERATION/ ECCLUS.
