This monument was erected in 1921 by the Gatley ratepayers association as a memorial to those men listed below, who lost their lives in the 1st world war 1914 - 1918. The original roll of honour was removed and placed on a war memorial situated on Gatley Green. This duplicate plaque was commissioned by The Cheadle and Gatley Community Action Group in 2012 when the clock was cleaned and restored to commemorate those who lost their lives.
