About the memorial: A wooden canopied crucifix on a stone base with metal plaques on the shaft of the cross located outside the south door of the church The Calvary was erected and given to the Church by Mr Percy Betts of Yew Tree Farm, Rosliston. He commissioned and erected the Calvary in thanks for his brother William Betts’ safe return from the First World War. The design is based on a Calvary that William and his fellow soldiers sheltered by during the fighting. The plans and various other documents relating to the Calvary can be found at Derbyshire Records Office D1675/Z/1-5.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
