About the memorial: A wheel cross with sword superimposed. The cross is made of Caen stone, with a marble shaft. Dedicated by the Rural Dean of East Wight, April 1920. World War II names added in 1950. Sculpted by Messrs Garret and Haysom. Architect: Mr Herbert Bryant. Rough hewn Celtic cross and plinth on single step sword of sacrifice on front face. Unveiled April 1920.
