About the memorial: On the north wall of the church there is a stained glass window commemorating the Commanding Officer and founder of the 17th Battalion, Welsh Regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Joseph Wilkie. The stained glass window shows the figures of St. George, St. David and St. Michael and is inscibed. Below and either side of the window are large brass plates recording the names, ranks and numbers of 258 officers and men of the Battalion who were killed.

Erected By The Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers And Men Of The 17th Welsh Regiment In Memory Of Their Original Expeditionary Force And Their Commanding Officer Lieut-Colonel Charles Jospeh Wilkie Formerly Captain In The Oxford & Bucks 52nd L.I. He Served In The Tirah Campaign & In France & Was Killed in Action At Maroc Near Lens On Octr. 16th In The Year Of Our Lord 1916.
