About the memorial: An array of four wall mounted limestone tablets set within two elaborate frames. Each upright oblong tablet has a moulded four-centred arch at the head with moulded cusped blind tracery and with foliage in relief in the spandrels. Each contains the inscription, names, or both incised in upright capital roman lettering infilled in black. The first and fourth tablet also has a pair of crowns carved in the spandrels and the second and third contain Alpha and Omega. The frames are formed from six polygonal stepped and fluted columns with crocketed finials with empty acroterea at the head and a plain plinth at the foot. (The polished stone reredos is of different design and appears to be of a different construction phase, so is presumed not to be part of the memorial.)

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
