Lower Inscription: He was killed in action at Koodoosberg Drift, South Africa, on 7th February/ 1900, aged 30, and 128 Lytham Members whose names are engraved/ on the silver plaque, subscribed for the gold South Africa War Medal/ and carved oak board, on which are recorded the winners of the/ TAIT MEMORIAL COMPETITION
