About the memorial: into a recess cut in the stone wall is a polished granite background with a curved recess holding a bronze figure with arms outstretched.(sculpture by Allen G Wyon £250) below is a metal plaque with the names and dedication whilst underneath is a tablet explaining the removal of the memorial to the park. Between the closing of the railway station and the erecting of the same in the park, it had been kept in the guildhall. This tablet is erected to perpetuate the memory of the men of the Cambrian Railways whose names are here recorded and who gave their lives for their King and country in the Great War 1914 - 1918. Below - This memorial removed/from the closed/Oswestry Railway Station/and was erected on this site/by Oswestry Town Council/and unveiled by/Cllr W G Jones/on October 23rd 1975.
