About the memorial: In the centre of the church, an inscribed brass memorial plaque commemorating Captain John Christopher Craven Barnes, 8th Bn, Border Regiment, who was killed in action on 29 May, 1916, aged 22. Above the memorial plaque is the original battlefield cross from Captain Barnes' grave.

BURIED IN THE CEMETERY AT ECOIVRES MONT ST. ELOI.
