About the memorial: A stone built cairn with sloping stone on top to which is fixed a metal dedicatory plaque. "The crew were Flt Sgt Alan Busbridge, Flt Sgt Bernard Mowan, Flt Sgt William Insley and Sgt Kenneth Shay all from No 297 Sqn. Also on board the aircraft was Sgt Edgar Bonser from No 296 Sqn. All 5 crew members lost their lives when their aircraft crashed in a field close to RAF Brize Norton whilst returning from a mission in France for the SOE." RAF
