About the memorial: The fourteen foot granite memorial sits in a memorial garden in Victoria Street, the main street, of St Anne, the town in Alderney. The gardens are well looked after by the States and the memorial is in good condition. Alderney was occupied by the Germams in the Second World War, as were the other Channel Islands, but is the only island to have the whole population evacuated.
