IN DEAREST MEMORY/OF CHARLES EDMUND WOOD/CAPTAIN AND ADJUTANT 1ST BATTALION ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS/BORN 23 DECEMBER 1884 YOUNGER SON OF EDWARD JOHN/WROG WOOD AND HIS TRETTIRE WIFE OF MEERE HOUSE IN/THIS COUNTY WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT THE BATTLE OF/NEUVE CHAPELLE IN FRANCE ON THE 11 MARCH 1915 AND/BURIED AT FANGUISSART NEAR THERE. HE WAS EVER READY/TO DO HIS DUTY AND HIS EARLY DEATH IS DEEPLY MOURNED/BY HIS PARENTS AND BROTHER WHO HAVE ERECTED THIS/TABLET AND WINDOW NEARBY IN LOVE AND TO HIS MEMORY/"WHATSOOFF THY HAND TENDEITH TO DO DO IT WITH THY MIGHT"
