IN MEMORY OF CAPTAIN THOMAS ROBERT FELL OF THE BENGAL NATIVE ARMY MAJOR OF BRIGADE AT DACCA AND AIDE-DE-CAMP TO GENERAL ADAMS AT THE SIEGE OF BHURTPORE IN JANUARY 1826 WHO AFTER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS ACTIVE SERVICE IN INDIA DURING WHICH PERIOD HE WAS MUCH DISTINGUISHED FOR GALLANTRY AND GOOD CONDUCT PARTICULARLY WHEN COMMANDING THE PIONEERS AT THE STORMING OF CHANDA ON THE 20TH OF MAY 1818 WHERE HE RECEIVEDSEVERAL SEVERE WOUNDS WHILE NOBLY PLANTING THE BRITISH STANDARD ON THE BREACH. DIED ON THE 1ST DAY OF APRIL 1835 ON BOARD THE SHIP ORIENT WHILE ON VOYAGE FROM CALCUTTA TO ENGLAND IN THE 40TH YEAR OF HIS AGE. THEY WHO ENJOYED HIS FRIENDSHIP AND LAMENT HIS LOSS HAVE ERECTED THIS TABLETIN COMMEMORATION OF HIS GALLANT CHARACTER AND PREMATURE DEATH
