Sacred to the memory of Captain Isaac Moorsom late in His Majesty's packet Service in Falmouth who unfortunately lost his life on his passage from the Island of St Thomas in the West Indies whilst bravely defending the Princess Amelia Packet under his command, against an enemy of much superior force on the XV day of September MDCCCXII in the forty fourth year of his age. Dearly beloved in life; deeply lamented in death. His afflicted widow caused this stone to be erected; to the memory of him she loved; in the hope of meeting him again in the regions of bliss, through an interest in a gracious Redeemer.
